Northern Colorado Walking & Hiking Trails II

On these pages is the most complete single source of walking, hiking trails and information for the Northern Colorado Area. Included are walking trails in Estes Park, Ft Collins, Greeley,  Loveland, Windsor and Northern Colorado. There is also a growing Colorado Trails section. In many instances we have gotten this information by permission from other web sites. We add information and trail locations as we find them or when one of our readers submits websites or trails description.

 Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park Area

Town of Estes Park Walking & Biking Maps. This page brought to you by Estes Park Visitors Center shows some of the cities interior trails.

Glen Haven Trails. These are trails that come out of Glen Haven They are thee Fox Creek Trail and the West Creek Trail. From Glen Haven there is also a trail to get you to the Park Meadows Trail and the Cross Mountain Trail.

Estes to RMNP There are also a bunch of trails which start in or are on the borders of Estes Park and go into Rocky Mountain National Park and beyond.

Alberta Falls - Beautiful Waterfalls and lakes w/excellent views of the High Peaks

Bridal Veil Falls - Meandering creek, wildlife viewing, lovely waterfall, great views

Fall River Road - Chasm Falls - Wildlife, waterfall, great views of the Rockies and Estes Park

Gem Lake - Lovely small lake, stunning views, great rock formations, a wonderful hike!

Grand Ditch  Follows the Grand Ditch from the Never Summer Parking Lot and trailhead  on Long Draw Road 52 miles up the Poudre Canyon. It stretches 11.4 miles south and ends near the Baker Creek in Rocky Mountain National Park

Homestead Meadows - A hike that takes you back into history after a nice walk up a scenic gulch.

Hallet Peak - Great alpine hike with views galore, from wooded lake to mountain peak.

Mount Bierstadt - This high altitude hike is easy to access, has great scenery, and a fourteener.

   

Longs Peak Keyhole route is the only non-technical route to the top. 7.5 miles from Longs Peak Ranger Station trail head. Considered difficult and strenuous. See link at bottom of page and download if you are considering this hike.

Chasm Lake. From Longs Peak Ranger Station 8.4 miles round trip. Beautiful part of Rocky Mtn. National Park. Heavy timber and last 1 mile can be difficult with rocks

Cub Lake Rocky Mtn. National Park favorite with visitors 4.6 round trip. Trail is considered moderate. Cub Lake is pretty.

Twin Sisters This hike is 3.7 miles to the summit which offers huge vistas from 11,428 elevation. Considered by the park as moderate. I can tell you it depends on your age. The trail head is south of Estes on the Peak to Peak highway.

West Creek Falls - A rocky amphitheater with two tied falls, nice views

Grand Ditch Trail - Moderate hike, Great views, trail runs 11.4 miles along the Grand Ditch at an elevation of over 10,000 feet. The entire trail only changes in elevation about two hundred feet. Trail Head in Poudre Canyon at Never Summer Trail head on Long Draw road.

 

Greeley Area Walking & Hiking

Riverside Park Walking Trial. Enjoy the beautiful views and sounds along the South Platte River and Riverside Lake 2 miles asphalt trail.

Poudre River Trail Downtown Greeley 19miles of trail under construction west of downtown will extend from Island Grove Park to the Weld County Line. A section from 11th Ave & D St near Island Grove Park about 1 mile west is presently complete.

Poudre River Trail  Trail present ends at 59th Ave no access here. From Trail heads at 71st Ave and 83rd Ave. Trail moves from 59th Ave dead end west to Cty rd 13 which is west of Windsor a total of about 14 miles.   Poudre Ranch section at 83rd Ave is the location of the new Poudre River Learning Center. Windsor Walking & Hiking Trails

Poudre Trail In Windsor From Highway 257 just north of Poudre River Bridge. Then east to 83rd Ave in Greeley. More soon.

 

Colorado Walking & Hiking Trails

Colorado Trail  - 500 miles Denver to Durango. Over eight  mountain ranges, six wilderness areas and six national forests.
Discovery/Challenger loop  - High country trails with potential for more.
Grays and Torreys - Two fourteeners easily reached from Denver and hiked in one day.

Mount Evans from Guanella Pass - This high altitude hike is easy to access, has great scenery, and a fourteener.

Pawnee Grasslands. See and feel the prairie as you walk this 1.5 mile trail. Starting from marked overlook trailhead this trail moves downhill all the way to the buttes and around with a uphill return.
