The opening reception for “ArtSteps: Water and Sky” will take place Saturday, February 24, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Museum/Gallery. The reception is open to the public and will feature live demonstrations by local artists from Thompson Valley Art League and Lincoln Gallery

Special to this year’s ArtSteps exhibit will be artwork from five Japanese art students in 1st – 5th grade at Kutsukawa Elementary School in Joyo City, Kyoto, Japan. These pieces are presented by Thompson School District elementary art teacher Amy Glaser. Mrs. Glaser was a 2006 participant in the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program. During her time in Japan, she worked with an art teacher at Kutsukawa Elementary School to bring back a sample of student art work for the 2007 ArtSteps show.

ArtSteps is a program created by the Loveland Museum/Gallery, the Thompson School District and Aims Community College. The overall goal of ArtSteps is to affirm community appreciation for young artists by displaying their artwork in a professional setting, as well as fostering relationships between local artists and students, and also to provide a lasting web of creative impetus that will support students from kindergarten through college.

The Loveland Museum/Gallery is located at the corner of 5th and Lincoln in downtown Loveland. Please call 970-962-2410 for hours of operation. For more information on the ArtSteps program or this year’s exhibit, please contact the Loveland Museum/Gallery at 970-962-2410
